2 Women Beaten in Queens in Separate Attacks

QUEENS - Two women are recovering after being beaten in separate unprovoked subway attacks in Queens. Police released surveillance video in both attacks.  

At around 10:45 am on May 24, a 52-year-old woman was riding a southbound E train. As the train approached the Queens Plaza station a man yelled at her. Police said the attacker told the woman to “look somewhere else.” The man then walked over to her and repeatedly punched the woman in the head. 

When the train stopped at Queens Plaza the attacker fled. 

The woman was rushed to Jamaica Hospital where she is listed in stable condition. 

The suspect is described as a man in his 30s who is six feet tall. He is 150 pounds with a dark complexion and a thin build. He was last seen wearing a white and blue hooded shirt and light blue jeans. 

A similar unrelated attack happened days earlier on the same E train heading to Queens Plaza. At around 1 pm on May 19, a 69-year-old woman was riding on the Manhattan bound E train. 

As the train approached the Queens Plaza station a man walked up to her. Cops said without warning the man punched the woman once in the head. 

When the train stopped at Queens Plaza he fled. The victim was taken to New York- Presbyterian Queens Hospital where she is listed in stable condition. 

The suspect was caught on surveillance video leaving the station. He is described as a man with a light complexion who is between the ages of 30 and 40. He is six feet tall and has a thin build. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants, and black sneakers.

 

 

The most recent attack occurred after Sunday’s vicious subway attack which shocked the city. Emine Ozsoy, 35, was left paralyzed when a man shoved her face into a moving subway train. Police arrested 39-year-old Kamal Semrade of Elmhurst, Queens for the crime.
