QUEENS LOCAL NEWS - The NYPD is asking for the public’s help in identifying a man wanted in connection with a hate crime assault that took place on a Q83 bus in Queens late last month. Police have released images of the individual and hope someone recognizes him.

According to investigators, the incident happened on September 30, 2025, around 10:38 p.m. The 22-year-old victim was riding an eastbound Q83 bus near Farmers Boulevard and 113th Avenue when a man sat down next to her. Police say he began making comments about her sexual orientation before the situation escalated.

Moments later, the man reportedly punched the woman in the face multiple times, leaving her with a laceration. After the attack, he fled the bus on foot, heading east on Farmers Boulevard. The victim declined medical treatment at the scene but later went to Long Island Jewish Valley Stream on her own for care.

The case is now in the hands of the NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force, which is investigating the assault as a bias-motivated attack.

Police describe the individual they’re looking for as a male with a dark complexion. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black du-rag, a maroon jacket, black pants, and black shoes, and was carrying a black backpack.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at https://crimestoppers.nypdonline.org/, on X @
