According to police, the suspect—captured on surveillance video during one of the incidents—is believed to be responsible for multiple armed robberies involving victims approached from behind, escalating concerns among residents in the Forest Hills and surrounding neighborhoods.
The first incident occurred on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at approximately 10:25 p.m., when a 24-year-old woman was walking near 62 Avenue and Saunders Street.
Investigators say the victim was approached from behind by an unidentified individual, who displayed a firearm and demanded her property. The suspect allegedly searched her pockets, removed cash, pulled her hair, and kicked her before fleeing the scene on foot eastbound on 62 Avenue.
Emergency Medical Services responded and treated the victim at the scene for pain. She was not transported to a hospital.
Just three days later, on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at approximately 1:13 a.m., a second robbery was reported near 63 Avenue and Austin Street.
In this incident, a 26-year-old man told police he was pushed from behind and struck over the head with a firearm, causing minor injuries. The suspect then stole the victim’s wallet containing approximately $100 and forcibly removed his backpack.
The individual fled the area westbound on Wetherole Street. Although the victim sustained minor injuries, he declined medical treatment at the scene.
The NYPD has released surveillance media obtained during the second incident, depicting the individual believed to be responsible for both robberies. The footage is available through DCPI, and investigators hope someone will recognize the suspect.
Police believe the incidents are connected due to similar methods of approach, use of a firearm, and timing, indicating a developing robbery pattern.
