According to investigators, the two incidents happened within minutes of each other and involved stolen wallets later used for unauthorized financial transactions, prompting detectives to believe the cases are related.
The first incident was reported at approximately 4:00 p.m. on January 12, 2026, when a 42-year-old woman realized her wallet was missing while she was in the vicinity of Prince Street and Roosevelt Avenue.
As part of the ongoing investigation, detectives determined that the stolen debit card was later used to make unauthorized purchases at a commercial establishment located at 130-35 20 Avenue, according to police. No injuries were reported.
This incident is now being investigated as part of a broader Queens grand larceny investigation involving multiple victims and locations within the same precinct.
Just 16 minutes later, at approximately 4:16 p.m., police say the same two unidentified individuals entered 39-12 Main Street, where they approached a 75-year-old man.
Once inside the location, one of the individuals allegedly removed a wallet containing credit cards from the victim’s bag. The two suspects then fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction. As with the first incident, no injuries were reported.
The NYPD describes both individuals as females with a dark complexion. Investigators have released images related to the incidents and are urging anyone who recognizes the individuals or has information to come forward.
Police stress that even small details can make a difference. Anyone with information regarding this 109 Precinct grand larceny pattern, the identity of the suspects, or their whereabouts is encouraged to contact law enforcement.

As detectives continue reviewing surveillance footage and transaction records, authorities hope public awareness will help bring resolution to both cases.
