QUEENS, NY - A 36-year-old woman was assaulted on a southbound 7 train near the 74 Street–Roosevelt Avenue subway station station in Queens on Saturday night, according to police.


The incident occurred at approximately 8:20 p.m. on January 24, 2026, while the train was approaching the busy transit hub in Jackson Heights. Authorities say the victim became involved in a verbal dispute with another female passenger, which quickly escalated into a physical attack.



Police reported that the unidentified suspect struck the victim in the face multiple times before fleeing the scene on the same southbound 7 train. The altercation happened inside the train car, underscoring ongoing concerns about subway safety during evening hours in New York City.


Emergency Medical Services responded to the 74 Street–Roosevelt Avenue station shortly after the assault. The victim was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst, where she was listed in stable condition.


The NYPD is asking for the public’s help identifying the individual involved in the Queens subway assault.




The suspect is described as a woman with a dark complexion and a medium build. She was last seen wearing a black jacket, gray hooded sweatshirt, black pants with white stripes and a red hat.


No arrests have been made at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing.




The 74 Street–Roosevelt Avenue station is one of the busiest transit locations in Queens, serving multiple subway lines and thousands of riders daily. Incidents like this highlight continued discussions around NYPD patrols, surveillance cameras, and rider awareness on public transportation.
