QUEENS, NY - Cops are hoping a beat up cargo van, with a tarp for a front bumper, could lead them to a pair of gunmen who shot a Queens man last month.

According to police, the incident happened on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at about 3:45 p.m. in front of 96-21 57 Avenue in Queens.

Authorities say a 30-year-old man was approached by two unidentified individuals wearing masks while standing outside the location.

During the encounter, one of the suspects pulled out a firearm and opened fire, striking the victim in both legs, police said.

After the shooting, the victim was transported by private means to One Brooklyn Health–Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center in Brooklyn.

Officials say the man was listed in stable condition after receiving treatment.

No arrests have been made in the case.

Police say the two suspects fled the scene in a white Ford Econoline cargo van that appeared to be in poor condition.

Investigators say the van had several distinctive features that could help identify such as a ladder rack mounted on the roof. It had a black tarp covering the front right panel of the vehicle. The back doors had latch locks installed and the truck.

Authorities say the van was last seen traveling southbound on the Cross Island Parkway shortly after the shooting.

Investigators believe the damaged white Econoline van with a tarp-covered front panel may be key to identifying the gunmen responsible for the Queens shooting on 57 Avenue.

Anyone who recognizes the vehicle or has information about the incident is encouraged to contact police.

The investigation remains ongoing as detectives work to track down the masked suspects who shot a man in both legs in Queens during the afternoon attack.
