QUEENS, NY - A pair of muggers beat a teen and stole his $1,200 sneakers during an attack on a E Train in Queens.

According to police, the incident happened on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at approximately 2:07 p.m. aboard a northbound “E” train approaching the Kew Gardens–Union Turnpike subway station in Queens. Authorities say a 17-year-old male victim was confronted by two unidentified individuals before the encounter quickly escalated into violence.

Police reported that the suspects began arguing with the teen before allegedly punching him repeatedly. During the attack, one of the suspects reportedly displayed a large knife and forcibly removed the victim’s sneakers, which were valued at approximately $1,200.

The suspects then exited the train at the Briarwood subway station and fled on foot in an unknown direction.

The victim sustained minor injuries during the robbery but refused medical attention at the scene, according to investigators.

Authorities released descriptions of both individuals wanted for questioning in connection with the incident.

The first suspect is described as a male who was last seen wearing a black ski mask, a gray and white sweatshirt, black shorts, and white sneakers.

The second suspect is described as a male who was last seen wearing a black and orange sweatshirt and sweatpants, black sneakers, and carrying a black bookbag.

The NYPD has also released surveillance images of the two individuals as detectives continue investigating the incident.

This case adds to ongoing concerns surrounding violent robbery incidents on New York City subway trains, particularly involving teenagers and high-value items such as designer sneakers. Transit crimes involving assaults and thefts remain a major focus for law enforcement throughout the city.

Officials are urging subway riders to remain alert while traveling and to report suspicious activity immediately. The investigation remains ongoing.
