High-End Chain Snatchers Wanted in Queens

Police say chain snatchers used this Honda Civic as a getaway car.

QUEENS - Police released new photos of a car used in a series of high-end chain snatching in Jamaica, Queens. 


The NYPD released new photos of a gray Honda Civic used in at least two robberies. One of the victims gave a partial plate of 5426.



The first incident took place at around 7:10 pm on October 25 in South Jamaica. At the corner of 123 Avenue and 144th Street, two men ran up behind a 16-year-old male. The robbers tried to remove the teen’s necklace. When he turned to stop them, one of the pair pulled out a handgun. The robbers then removed the necklace and fled in the Honda Civic. 




Police said the necklace is valued at $2,000. 




The robbers struck again five days later. At around 4:25 am on October 30, a 53-year-old man was exiting his vehicle at 195-41 Jamaica Avenue. The robbers ran up behind him and tried to rip the chain from his neck. The victim tried to fight them off and a struggle ensued. 


Then one of the thieves pulled out a gun and demanded the necklace. The victim complied. The robbers then hopped in the Honda and drove off. 


The victim suffered a cut to his left hand during the struggle. He was treated at the scene by EMS. 


Investigators said the stolen necklace is valued at $5,500.

Scooter Muggers Strike in Queens

Police are searching for two men in connection with the mugging of scooters in Queens. -Photo by NYPD By Dan Gesslein  Queens Voice May 18, 2023 QUEENS - Cops are looking for a pair of muggers who have assaulted riders and stole their scooters in Queens.  At around 8 pm on April 25, a 40-year-old man was riding a motorized scooter. Two men ran up alongside him and shoved him off the scooter. As the man lay in the street, the attackers hopped on the scooter and headed westbound on Roosevelt Avenue.  Two hours later the pair struck again. At around 10 pm, a 28-year-old man was riding his motorized scooter in the vicinity of 3510 College Point Boulevard.  The muggers rode up alongside him on another scooter. The man on the back of the scooter shoved the victim off his scooter. Walk-By Shooting in Queens

Gunman Sought by Cops The NYPD is searching for this man in connection with a shooting in Queens. -Photo by NYPD By Dan Gesslein Queens Voice March 18, 2024 QUEENS - Cops are looking for a man who opened fire on a Queens street. At around 5:45 pm on March 12, a 26-year-old male was standing in front of 76-07 160th Street. Cops said a man in a black coat and a black face covering ran up and pulled out a gun. The gunman fired multiple rounds at the victim but missed. The gunman then ran away on in an unknown direction. However, cops recovered surveillance video of the suspect from a nearby house. The suspect is described as an 18-year-old male with a medium complexion and thin build. He was last seen wearing all black clothing, black face covering, multi-color sneakers and black book bag.
