QUEENS - A straphanger was stabbed in the leg inside a subway car at Queens Plaza, the NYPD said.

At around 7:30 pm on January 10, a 36-year-old man was onboard a southbound R Train. As the train approached the Queens Plaza station, a man in a red hoodie tried to engage the straphanger in conversation. Cops said then, without warning, the man in the hoodie pulled out a sharp object and stabbed the straphanger in the left leg.

When the train reached the station, the stabber fled the train and took off in an unknown direction.

The victim was transported by private means to Staten Island North University. He was listed in stable condition.

The NYPD released surveillance video of the suspect pacing on the subway platform.

The suspect is described as a male with a dark complexion who is 20 years old. He was last seen wearing a dark colored vest jacket, red hooded sweatshirt, dark colored pants, white and dark colored sneakers.
