QUEENS - A crazed straphanger slashed a fellow rider with a box cutter inside an MTA bus near Queens College, the NYPD said. Surveillance video from inside the bus appears to show the suspect holding the box cutter before the attack.
At around 5 pm on January 22, a 57-year-old man was riding on an MTA bus at the intersection of Main Street and Melbourne Avenue, near Cedar Grove Cemetery when another rider started arguing with him. Cops said the man who was seen holding a camo backpack, took a box cutter and slashed the rider in the arm and chest.
The attacker jumped out of the bus and fled in an unknown direction.
EMS rushed the victim to Presbyterian Queens Hospital where he was listed in stable condition.
The suspect is described as a male with a dark complexion, medium build and a mustache. He was last seen wearing a gray winter coat with a green camouflage hoodie underneath. He wore a black knitted cap and a balaclava covering his head and chin. He also wore a surgical mask on his chin.
In the video the suspect is seen holding a silver box cutter and a desert camo back pack.
