QUEENS - A female mugger attacked a straphanger while trying to steal her purse at a Queens subway station, cops said.
At around 1:30 am on February 23, a 25-year-old woman exited a northbound E Train at the Steinway Street Station in Astoria. A woman walked up to the straphanger and began punching her in the face over and over again, cops said.
After stunning the victim with the punches, the attacker grabbed onto the woman’s purse and tried to yank it away from her, cops said.
The victim hung on and the attacker hopped on a northbound E Train emptyhanded.
The NYPD released surveillance video of the suspect who is described as a woman with a dark complexion and short hair. She was last seen wearing a dark-colored long coat, white sneakers, and a multi-colored backpack.
