QUEENS - A tense moment played out in Queens when a grenade was found in front of a Chase Bank underneath an elevated subway station. The Bomb Squad recovered the grenade in Ozone Park. No word if the device was inert or not. 


At around 11:30 am today, cops were called to a report of a suspicious device found inside a plastic bag in front of the Chase Bank at the corner of 112th Street and Liberty Avenue. 


Subway service was order to bypass the station as police closed down the block. The NYPD’s Bomb Squad recovered the device which appears to be a grenade.



Officials would not comment on whether the device was active. 


After the scene was investigated and the device was removed, subway service resumed at around 2 pm.
