QUEENS LOCAL NEWS - A thief schooled a trade school in crime when he ripped out copper piping from the Long Island City campus not once but twice, the NYPD said.
Investigators have released surveillance video of the suspect, they say, ripped out copper plumbing at Apex Technical School located at 11-05 44 Drive in Long Island City.
The first burglary happened at around 9:30 pm on October 14. Cops said the suspect pried open the front door to the school. Once inside he started removing copper pipes and fittings. Cops said the value of the piping is around $45,000.
Investigators believe the same man returned a month later after the stolen piping was replaced. At around 8:30 pm on November 7, the suspect pried open the emergency exit door to the same Apex Tech School location. Once again the man got to work removing copper piping and fittings valued at around $42,000.
The NYPD released surveillance video taken during the second robbery. He is described as a male with a dark complexion and mustache. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie and a black du-rag.
