Check Thief Wanted for Striking Same Building

QUEENS - Cops are looking for a mail thief who has been ripping off checks from tenants at an apartment building in Sunnyside Gardens. 


The NYPD released surveillance video of the suspect who is believed to have robbed the mailboxes of the same building three times last month. 


Investigators said the suspect walked into the lobby of an apartment building on the corner of 51st Street and Skillman Avenue at around midnight on February 5. Cops said the man broke into a mailbox and removed a box containing a bank checkbook. 

The same suspect struck again at around 2:44 am on February 10 at the same building. Cops said the thief broke into a mailbox and stole bank checks. 


The final incident occurred at around 1:29 am on February 22. Cops said the same suspect robbed the same building group of mailboxes and removed envelopes.  


The suspect is described as a male with a light complexion. He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap and black hoodie.
