QUEENS LOCAL NEWS - A late-night subway ride turned violent early Saturday morning after a man was stabbed aboard a southbound R train at the Steinway Street subway station in Queens, according to police.


The incident happened around 2:07 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2025, when a 40-year-old man was approached by an unidentified individual while onboard the train. Authorities say the two became involved in a verbal dispute that quickly escalated into a physical attack.


Police report that the unidentified suspect stabbed the victim multiple times in the torso and left leg using a knife. After the assault, the victim exited the train at the Steinway Street station, while the suspect remained onboard and fled the scene.


Victim Hospitalized in Stable Condition


Emergency Medical Services responded quickly and transported the victim to NYC Health and Hospitals/Elmhurst, where he was listed in stable condition. No additional injuries were reported, and investigators have not indicated whether the victim and suspect knew each other prior to the encounter.


Suspect Description Released by NYPD


The NYPD is actively searching for the suspect and has released a description to the public. The individual is described as a male who was last seen wearing:


  • A beige jacket
  • A blue shirt
  • Black pants
  • Black sneakers


Police released surveillance images from inside the train.
