The NYPD is looking for at least three individuals connected to the string of gunpoint robberies in Jackson Heights. In both incidents, one of the suspects displayed a firearm before the crew escaped in a black SUV.
The first armed robbery in Jackson Heights happened at approximately 3:37 a.m. on September 22. A 35-year-old man was standing in the rear of 37-67 75th Street when three men approached him.
One of the suspects pulled out a gun and demanded money. The victim handed over $100, and the robbers then jumped into a black SUV and drove away.
Just five minutes later, police said, the same crew struck again.
This time, the suspects targeted a couple standing outside 82-06 37th Avenue. A 23-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man were approached by one of the robbers, who displayed a firearm.
As the suspect attempted to steal the woman's property, the victims fought back and struggled with the gunman. The suspect eventually jumped into the waiting SUV, and the crew fled the scene emptyhanded.
The female victim suffered injuries to her arm and leg but refused medical attention at the scene.
The NYPD has released surveillance video of the black SUV wanted in connection with the Jackson Heights robberies as detectives continue searching for the suspects.
