QUEENS - Police have made an arrest in the serial stabbing spree that left five people injured and terrorized Queens residents. The suspect is a greeter at an area hospital.
Jermain Rigueur was arrested yesterday for the five stabbings over a 24-hour period, the NYPD announced. The 27-year-old was charged with three counts of attempted murder, four counts of assault, one count of attempted assault, and criminal possession of a weapon, investigators said.
Cops said the stabbing spree began around midnight on Jan 16. A 34-year-old woman was walking home in the vicinity of 158 Street & 134 Avenue. Cops said a man came from behind and then stabbed the woman on the right side of the torso.
Stabbed at Columbus Circle
The victim was rushed to an area hospital where she is listed in stable condition.
Two men were stabbed the following day. At around 7:30 am on January 17, a 74-year-old man and a 41-year-old man were standing in the vicinity of 161st Street and 134th Avenue in Springfield Gardens.
Cops said the suspect walked up to men and stabbed the 74 year old in the abdomen. The 41 year old was stabbed in the back.
Both men were transported to Jamaica Hospital where they are listed in stable condition.
