QUEENS - A pair of smoke shop thieves may have thought they would attract little attention with their clothing but then drove a pretty conspicuous getaway car - an $80,000 plus luxury SUV, the NYPD said.
At around 4:40 am on January 14, two men broke into a smoke shop on Jamaica Avenue. Cops said the crooks took $8,000 worth of merchandise.
The suspects images were captured on a street surveillance camera outside the store. The alleged crooks wore black hoodies, sweatpants and balaclavas which would not attract attention on a cold January morning.
However, the pair were caught on camera driving away in an $80,000 plus silver BMW X 7 SUV, which was parked under a street light right in front of the surveillance camera.
The suspects are described as males with medium builds with dark clothes.
At this time investigators did not say whether the BMW had a license plate or any markings denoting the dealership of where the luxury SUV was purchased.
