Late-Night Shooting Leaves Man Critically Injured in Far Rockaway

QUEENS LOCAL NEWS - A quiet Saturday night in Far Rockaway took a violent turn when a 31-year-old man was shot multiple times while sitting in his parked car on Beach 14th Street, according to police.
It happened around 11:20 p.m. in front of 289 Beach 14th Street. The victim was inside his vehicle when an unidentified person walked up to the car and opened fire, striking him in both the chest and abdomen. Police say the shooter didn’t stick around—after the shots rang out, the individual took off running northbound on Beach 14th Street.
The wounded man wasn’t taken to the hospital by EMS; instead, he was rushed by private means to St. John’s Episcopal Hospital. Because of the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition.
Investigators are still searching for the shooter, and no description was immediately available. Media related to the incident has been made available through DCPI.
