They say the city has not provided viable financing options, or explained what mitigating factors could ease potential noncompliance penalties for the law that’s set to take effect in just six months.  Local Law 97 , passed in 2019, will apply beginning in January to almost all buildings 25,000 square feet and larger — running the gamut from schools and multi-family homes to hospitals and distribution centers. They are where we walk, eat, play, and come together as one city. As mayor, I am committed to reclaiming our streets for everyone to enjoy safely. New Yorkers shouldn’t have to travel to Europe to experience open summer streets. We have them right here in our own backyard. And this summer we are expanding Summer Streets to all five boroughs. Attacks, Robs Straphanger on M Train - Cops Say  Police are searching for this man in connection with a mugging at a Queens subway station. -Photo by NYPD By Dan Gesslein  Queens Voice June 28, 2023  QUEENS - Cops are looking for a mugger who placed a woman in a headlock and robbed her inside a Queens subway station in Elmhurst.  Police released surveillance video of a suspect in the violent assault. The footage was taken of the suspect leaving the subway station.  At around 11 am on June 26, a 24-year-old woman was waiting for an M Train at the Elmhurst Avenue subway station. Cops said a man walked up behind the female straphanger and through her head into a headlock.    With the woman immobilized, the attacker removed her cell phone and calmly walked out of the subway station, cops said.  The suspect is described as a male between the ages of 25 and 30 years of age with a medium complexion and thin build. Increasingly, young people navigating the road to adulthood face debilitating insecurity, loneliness, depression, and worse.
