File photo Subscribe in a reader The Health Department released early flu vaccination data for this year’s influenza season, showing substantial increases compared to the same time last year.  From July 1 – October 24, 2020, there was a 37% increase in the number of adults aged 19 and older who have received the vaccine compared to the same time last year (an increase of 189,017 adults [517,676 last season to 706,693 this season]), and a 27% increase for children 6 months to 18 years old (an increase of 105,881 children [397,626 last season to 503,507 this season]). In total, over 1,210,000 New Yorkers have received this year’s flu vaccine based on doses entered into the Citywide Immunization Registry. The officers is being praised by the Police Commissioner for his heroics and the gunman has been charged with murder.   Surveillance video captured the moment Off-Duty Police Officer Jason Maharaj tackled a gunman inside a Queens deli. At around 6:15 pm on October 26, Steven Cohen, 63, got into an arguement with an employee inside Cross Bay Express Deli, at 137-02 Cross Bay Boulevard. Subscribe in a reader By Dan Gesslein, October 28, 2020  A cell phone store stickup in Flushing was caught on camera and the NYPD is hoping the public can help them catch the robbers.  At around 6:30 pm on October 12, two men walked into the Metro PCS store at 75-25 Parsone Boulevard and approached the clerk at the counter. Surveillance video captured the scene as one of the men pulled out a gun. The accomplice then went behind the counter and proceeded to stuff 12 cell phones inside a black duffel bag he was carrying.  As his partner loaded up the phones, the gunman opened the register and stuffed the cash in his own pocket. Cops say he attacked the octogenarians for their baseball caps and face mask.  At around 9:38 am on September 3rd, an 88-year-old man was attacked on an MTA bus at the intersection of Parsons Boulevard and Archer Avenue. Investigators say that the suspect attempted to take the elderly’s man baseball cap. As the man fought back, the cap thief bit the 88-year-old’s right hand and threw him out of the bus and onto the ground.   The victim was treated for fractured ribs at Jamaica Hospital.
