Attacks, Robs Straphanger on M Train - Cops Say  Police are searching for this man in connection with a mugging at a Queens subway station. -Photo by NYPD By Dan Gesslein  Queens Voice June 28, 2023  QUEENS - Cops are looking for a mugger who placed a woman in a headlock and robbed her inside a Queens subway station in Elmhurst.  Police released surveillance video of a suspect in the violent assault. The footage was taken of the suspect leaving the subway station.  At around 11 am on June 26, a 24-year-old woman was waiting for an M Train at the Elmhurst Avenue subway station. Cops said a man walked up behind the female straphanger and through her head into a headlock.    With the woman immobilized, the attacker removed her cell phone and calmly walked out of the subway station, cops said.  The suspect is described as a male between the ages of 25 and 30 years of age with a medium complexion and thin build. By a 5-4 vote at the Hunter College Assembly Hall on Wednesday evening, the board approved a maximum rent increase of 3% on one-year leases, and a maximum rent increase of 2.75% in year one and 3.2% in year two on two-year leases. The allowable increases — slightly lower than last year’s — apply to leases signed on or after Oct. 1, 2023 for rent-stabilized apartments, which represent almost half of all rental units in the city. “Finding the right balance is never easy, but I believe the board has done so this year,” Mayor Eric Adams said in a statement released after the vote. “We also know that

Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz announced that Reeaz Khan pleaded guilty to murder and other charges in the heinous attack of a 92-year-old woman walking near her Richmond Hill home on a frigid January night in 2020. The defendant threw her to the ground, sexually assaulted her and sprinted from the scene.  “This defendant savagely attacked a defenseless, elderly woman and left her to die on the freezing pavement,” Katz said. “He rightly will be sentenced to a long prison term.”  Khan, 24, of 134th Street, Richmond Hill, Queens, pleaded guilty to murder in the second degree and attempted rape in the first degree.  Justice Kenneth C. Cops are looking for a trio of shower cap-wearing women who are suspected of being part of a group of eight  robbers who beat a store clerk who tried to stop them from stealing, investigators said.  Police released surveillance video of the group of eight suspects, three males and five females, who allegedly robbed and assaulted a store employee inside a beauty supply store in Ridgewood.  At around 5:47 pm on June 18, a group of eight people walked into the beauty supply store at 54-24 Myrtle Avenue.
