Hate Crime Assault at Subway Station?

Police are searching for this man in connection with an alleged hate crime assault in a Queens subway station. -Photo by NYPD By Dan Gesslein  Queens Voice September 28, 2023 QUEENS - Police are looking for a suspect who struck a straphanger after making anti-Asian remarks at a Queens subway station back in July. Police are once again asking for the public’s help in trying to catch a man suspected of assaulting a subway rider at the Queensboro Plaza South subway station. At around noon on July 22, a 31-year-old man was standing in the mezzanine waiting for a Number 7 train. Cops said a man approached the straphanger and began shouting anti-Asian remarks. He then began punching the victim in the left side of his face.  The attacker then ran out of the subway station. The victim suffered bruising and pain to the left side of his but he refused medical treatment. The case is being investigated by the NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force. Free Resource Guide on How to Prevent and Respond to Street Harassment Available to New Yorkers   NEW YORK - The Street Harassment Prevention Advisory Board (SHPAB), launched a citywide outreach effort to conduct a survey on the nature, prevalence, and impact of street harassment on New Yorkers.  The SHPAB is co-chaired by the New York City Mayor’s Office to End Domestic and Gender-Based Violence (ENDGBV) and the New York City Commission on Gender Equity (CGE). CGE sits within the NYC Mayor’s Office of Equity (MOE). The SHPAB was established by Local Law 46 of 2022 to study and raise awareness of street harassment and to develop resources for survivors and bystanders.  This survey will help the advisory board better understand how and where New Yorkers experience street harassment, identify people and communities most at risk, and understand what kind of prevention, education, and training resources city agencies, community members, and individuals can utilize to address this fo

Bike Riding Robbers Smacked Around 3 Victims

Police are searching for at least three men who attacked and robbed men in Queens and then hopped on bikes and rode away. -Photo by NYPD By Dan Gesslein  Queens Voice September 26, 2023 QUEENS - Police are searching for a group of robbers who attacked at least three men and used bicycles as their getaway vehicles. At around 3 am on September 2, a 21-year-old man was walking down the street in the vicinity of 34 Avenue and Junction Boulevard when he was approached by two men who pounced. Cops said one of the men put the victim in a chokehold while his partner rifled through the man’s pockets and forcibly removed a cellphone and $400 cash. Cops said the attackers hopped on bicycles and rode off. The crooks struck again at around midnight on September 6. A 43-year-old man was sitting on a bench inside Junction Boulevard. Three men approached the bench and punched the victim on his side. The group then forcibly removed the victim’s cellphone, gold bracelet and $40 cash. Cops
