Hate Crime Attack Over Wearing Turban on Bus

Police are searching for this man in connection with an attack on a bus rider in which the attacker tried to remove the victim's turban. -Photo by NYPD By Dan Gesslein Queens Voice October 17, 2023 NEW YORK - The NYPD’s Hate Crime Unit is investigating the beating of a man on a Queens bus who was wearing a turban, cops said.  Police are looking at the assault on a bus in Richmond as a possible hate crime after the suspect shouted about the victim wearing a turban and tried to rip it off the man’s head. At around 9 am on October 15, a 19-year-old man wearing a turban was riding a shuttle bus in the vicinity of 118th Street and Liberty Avenue. Cops said another passenger suddenly began yelling at him unprovoked. 

Liquor Store Robbery Leads to $100,000 in High-Priced Bottles Stolen

Police are searching for 2 men who made off with nearly $100,000 worth of liquor. -Photo by NYPD By Dan Gesslein  Queens Voice October 12, 2023 NEW YORK - Cops are looking for a robbery crew that broke into a pair of Queens liquor stores on the same night and stole nearly $100,000 worth of booze. Cops said the crew kicked off their robbery spree at around 1 am on October 3rd. Two men broke into Franny Lew Wine and Liquor located off the Horace Harding Expressway. Cops said the crooks used crowbars to pry open the doors to gain entry. Once inside, the crooks removed high-end bottles of liquor valued at over $77,000

Hit in Head with Glass Bottle - NYC Crime

Police are searching for this man in connection with a beat down with a glass bottle. -Photo by NYPD By Dan Gesslein  Queens Voice  October 11, 2023  QUEENS - A Queens man is recovering after being viciously beaten in the head with a glass bottle in a random attack, cops said.   Police released surveillance video of the suspect wanted in last month’s violent unprovoked attack.  At around 5 pm on September 14, a 31-year-old man was standing inside a deli on 39th Avenue in Woodside. Cops said a man walked up to the victim and unprovoked, attacked him. He took out a glass bottle and used it to repeatedly strike the victim in the face. 

25 Years for Running Over Wife with SUV, Stabbing Her in Front of Kids

A Queens man was sentenced to 25 years in prison when he ran over his wife and stabbed her in front of their children. The SUV flipped over in the attack. -Photo by Queens DA's Office By Dan Gesslein  Queens Voice  October 6, 2023  QUEENS - The Queens man who ran over his wife and then stabbed her in front of their children was sentenced today to 25 years in prison. His victim, the mother of their children, has been in a coma for the past two years.  Stephen Giraldo, 37, was sentenced today to 25 years in prison. Last month he pleaded guilty to attempted murder when he ran over his wife with his SUV and then stabbed her with the children in the vehicle. Prosecutors said the children looked on in horror as their father stabbed their mother.  Sophia Giraldo has remained in a coma since the December 2022 attack.  “This is one of the most brutal cases we have prosecuted,” said Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz. “To tell your children to ‘buckle up,’ purposefully hit their

Gunmen Shoot Driver, Rob His Passengers

Police are searching for two men who shot up a Mercedes and robbed two women at gunpoint. -Photo by NYPD By Dan Gesslein Queens Voice October 5, 2023 QUEENS - Cops are looking for a pair of robbers who shot up a Mercedes, wounding the driver, and then stuck up his passengers, removing thousands of dollars in cash and valuables. Police released surveillance photos of the hoodie wearing suspects and the grey crossover SUV the men escaped in.  At around 5 am on September 25, a 40-year-old man parked his 2021 Mercedes Benz AMG on the corner of 41 Street and 25 Avenue. As the man’s passengers exited the car, two men walked up to the Mercedes.  Cops said one of the men pulled out a gun and opened fire on the car. The man tried to drive away under the hail of bullets. However, one of the rounds hit him in the left arm.  Cops said after the Mercedes drove away the gunman turned his sights on the two women passengers, ages 24 and 21. Man Shot in Face Police are searching for this man in connection with a shooting near a Queens school. -Photo by NYPD By Dan Gesslein Queens Voice October 3, 2023 QUEENS - A gunman opened fire across the street from a school in Queens near JFK Airport, cops said.  At around 9:30 am on October 2, a 24-year-old male got into argument with another man in front of an empty store front at 147-03 Guy R Brewer Blvd. in Springfield Gardens.  As the dispute got heated, one of the men pulled out a handgun and shot the other in the face. A bullet struck left side of the victim’s jaw.  The gunman was seen fleeing westbound on 146th Terrace.  The victim was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center for treatment. He was listed in stable condition. Hate Crime Assault at Subway Station?

Police are searching for this man in connection with an alleged hate crime assault in a Queens subway station. -Photo by NYPD By Dan Gesslein  Queens Voice September 28, 2023 QUEENS - Police are looking for a suspect who struck a straphanger after making anti-Asian remarks at a Queens subway station back in July. Police are once again asking for the public’s help in trying to catch a man suspected of assaulting a subway rider at the Queensboro Plaza South subway station. At around noon on July 22, a 31-year-old man was standing in the mezzanine waiting for a Number 7 train. Cops said a man approached the straphanger and began shouting anti-Asian remarks. He then began punching the victim in the left side of his face.  The attacker then ran out of the subway station. The victim suffered bruising and pain to the left side of his but he refused medical treatment. The case is being investigated by the NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force.
