Gun Buyback Event Tomorrow 
                                   
Following the success of last week’s Gun Buyback program, Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz is hosting another buyback event tomorrow.

The Gun Buyback event will be held on Saturday at 2:45 at Macedonia Baptist Church at 330 Beach 67th Street Avenue, Queens.

District Attorney Katz said, “We had a very successful gun buy back event last week – 117 operable pistols and long guns were removed from our communities. We want to do it again and take even more firearms off our streets. To reverse the recent spike in gun violence, it will take all of us working together. Each gun turned in tomorrow, is a potential life saved.”


People with a legal or illegal gun are invited to trade it in for a reward. Each working handgun nets a $200 bank card. For each rifle, shotgun, BB gun or air pistol, the reward is a $25 bank card. One can turn in as many firearms as they have, but the reward is no more than three $200 bank cards. The bank cards can be used as a debit card with merchants or get cash at any ATM.

This is a no questions asked and 100 percent anonymous event.

Participants should bring unloaded weapons in paper or plastic bags or shoe boxes when brought to the church. If transported by car, the gun must be in the trunk of the vehicle.

Funding for the gun buy back events were shared equally between the Queens District Attorney’s Office and the New York City Police Department.

Please note that gun dealers and active or retired law enforcement firearms are not acceptable.

Police were called to Queens Hospital in Hillcrest on March 21 for a call of man suffering from a gunshot wound. Hospital staff told the officers that a man walked into the hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest. He died a short time later. The victim has been identified as 19-year-old Curtis Moe of Brooklyn. An investigation revealed that Moe was shot in the chest in front of 178-16 Leslie Road.

Gunman Sought by Cops The NYPD is searching for this man in connection with a shooting in Queens. -Photo by NYPD By Dan Gesslein Queens Voice March 18, 2024 QUEENS - Cops are looking for a man who opened fire on a Queens street. At around 5:45 pm on March 12, a 26-year-old male was standing in front of 76-07 160th Street. Cops said a man in a black coat and a black face covering ran up and pulled out a gun. The gunman fired multiple rounds at the victim but missed. The gunman then ran away on in an unknown direction. However, cops recovered surveillance video of the suspect from a nearby house. The suspect is described as an 18-year-old male with a medium complexion and thin build. He was last seen wearing all black clothing, black face covering, multi-color sneakers and black book bag. Toolbox Muggers Attack Man on F Train The NYPD is searching for these men in connection with an assault and robbery of a straphanger using pliers. -Photo by NYPD By Dan Gesslein Queens Voice April 24, 2024 QUEENS - A Queens subway rider was beaten and robbed by a pair of attackers who displayed a knife and a pair of pliers, cops said.  At around 8 pm on April 20, a 20-year-old man was onboard an F Train in Queens. As the train was pulling in to the Hillside Avenue/179 Street Subway Station, two men approached the straphanger.  Cops said one of the men pulled out a knife, the other pulled out a pair of pliers. The attackers then began punching and kicking the straphanger. They also beat the man with the pliers, cops said. The attackers went on to forcibly removed the victim’s cellphone and wallet.  When the train stopped at the station, the attackers ran out of the subway car and fled the station.  EMS rushed the victim to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center where was listed in stable cond
